An old mansion in the center of Merchtem had been in a dilapidated condition for years. The grand building gathered a non-valuable extension, was reconverted into offices and apartments and had to endure adaptations which affected the integrity of the building. The current plan was drawn with respect for the character of the house, in terms of both architecture and interior. The facade was restored and its rhythm was extended to the rear. Architectural interventions have been added in a subtle way to make the authentic and original elements stand out. With a particular emphasis on symmetry, sophisticated lines and a uniform white color, this eighteenth century house was taken to a higher level.
